Book Review: The Three Martini Playdate- A Practical Guide to Happy Parenting

I'm sure some will be startled by the title of this book, but you shouldn't be so quick to judge. Christie Mellor writes a very funny and practical guide to parenting. The "martini" references are very humorous, but meant to stress the importance of being a more relaxed parent even though the author provides a few drink recipes. We have allowed society to make parenting much more stressful than it should be. I must admit I have stressed myself out at times worrying about very insignficant details. Some of my favorite chapters from the book: the childproof house, children's birthday parties, self esteem and other overrated concepts, and your child's eighty hour work week. I have also purchased The Three-Martini Family Vacation (don't we all need a few) by Mellor. I'll be glad to loan out my copies, but the books can also be purchased on Amazon.
