Easy Birthday Party

My daughter's birthday happens to be during the midst of the busy Christmas season. Every year we attempt to schedule the birthday party as early in the month as possible. This year was no exception and we celebrated with family and friends over the weekend. My little sweety is very creative and asked for a chocolate party.

She doesn't like birthday cake, but have found she likes the Chocolate Ganache at the Fresh Market. We picked up our cake on Friday evening (sorry to say it was not as good as the cake has been in the past-call ahead and order a fresh one). We had cake, brownies, choco chip cookies, chocolate covered preztels and several types of chocolate candy. Our drink of choice was milk. Our invitations were made easy by "Dimpleprints", an etsy photo card business. I'm not into planning activities for a party. My philosophy- just let the kids play. I fretted because we were warned of rain, but the sunshine prevailed.

As each little guest left the party, my daughter handed each one a small cellophane bag containing a packet of hot chocolate and some marshmallows. Each bag was tied with a candy cane. I must say- I despise a "goody bag". I've been to parties where my child has received $5-$10 worth of plastic junk in a "goody bag". Who started that custom? Crazy!!!

It was a beautiful day and my daughter enjoyed being surronded by family and friends. My job was easy because I did not have to plan, coordinate, and/or supply endless activities. Thanks to my sweet daughter for letting me keep it simple.
